We are a 90% volunteer-based non-profit organization that depends on our community to help provide quality services to our neighbors in need. We have volunteer opportunities during our shopping shifts and outside of shopping hours.

NEW STUDENT VOLUNTEERS

We welcome students to apply to volunteer. We ask that you be at least 16 years old, can commit to volunteering at least 3 months, and are self-motivated to work hard while volunteering. We limit the number of students volunteering and may not be able to accept all applicants.

Create a positive Food Shelf experience for others by completing behind-the-scenes tasks as a member of our amazing Volunteer Squad. Duties include filing, data entry, record keeping, and other administrative tasks.

Help our Food Rescue Program—retrieve donations from local stores

Volunteer as one of our drivers and drive around Waconia, picking up food donations from community partners and delivering them to the Food Shelf warehouse. After returning with the grocery donations, you will weigh the items and help put the cold/perishable contributions away.
Valid driver’s license and car insurance required.

Help organize and do the heavy lifting—unload trucks and join us in the stock room

Ready to do the heavy lifting? Join us in the stockroom to receive and sort donations, track inventory, restock main floor shelves and clean up to maintain an organized and safe environment.

One of our biggest needs is shift volunteers working directly with clients!

Don’t mind delivering groceries to doorsteps? Join our delivery team! We deliver groceries to residents within our service area once a month.
